Eating with Intention

Eating with Intention

Congratulations on knocking out another week of boot camp during the holiday season! For some people, this time of year can be ultra-challenging to commit to any sort of routine or habit. So, kudos for prioritizing your health and well-being!

Did you set a daily goal last week? If so, how did that go for you? This week, we have another idaea for you. Holiday gatherings often include traditional dishes, as well as decadent desserts. These meals and social times can be delightful and with a dash of intention these holiday foods can also fit into your overall balanced diet. How so? I’m glad you asked!

This week’s recommendation includes planning when to indulge and when to stick to your usual mealtime game plan (vegetables, protein, carbohydrate – think Harvard Healthy Eating Plate). Mark your calendar with dates for holiday gatherings, so that you’ll know when to expect the extra deliciousness. Then, in between holiday events, you can eat with intention and keep showing up to boot camp! This approach allows for flexibility and enjoyment that feeds a healthy lifestyle all year round, rather than a month’s worth of added sugar and desserts that will make you feel sluggish and foggy as you wrap up 2021. So what do you think? Are you ready to plan ahead for your holiday indulgences?
